Monday Morning Blues

Yep, I got a case of the blues. This morning is cool, rainy, and the temps are to drop all day. Considering the “real-feel” is 47 now, it is not going to be an outside type of day.

And, for the first time since I moved in, the air today SMELLS like the Lake Erie I really remember. A nasty combination of algae, mildew, and dead fish.. UGH!!

The weather is putting a literal damper on some things I need to have finished (or started) to make this place more comfortable.

The HVAC company wants to have slightly warmer temps because the heat will be off for most of 2 days.

The electricians don’t want to dig the trench to the out-building, in the rain, to add electricity out there.

The Yard/Lawn crews don’t want to trim trees, or lay down lime/weed killer/grub killer/fertilizer/etc. in the cold rain either. Waste of time/money, to see the granules wash away, and falling out of a cold, wet, slippery tree, well, just not fun.

Orkin was able to spray the inside of the house (I have had both ants and beetles already from the ?warming? weather and wetness out there). But, the outside spraying / granules pretty much got rinsed down and out.

And, of course, I can’t do things outside I want to either.. There are projects out there, that I keep seeing through the windows, and it is a bit depressing knowing I can’t get them started.

Saturday, I was able to get out for a walk or two around the neighborhood. For me it felt way to chilly to do things. Others were out doing yard work or playing. Maybe by next year I will have become more accustomed to the weather and will think that the low 50s with sun and 12 mph winds is warm, and not consider it COLD!!!!

I am getting a few things accomplished inside. Did get my WiFi Printer up and going on the various computers. And, I may not have mentioned previously, I have 10 security cameras around the perimeter of the house/yard/outbuilding that are now functioning properly.

During the short few days of less than totally cold weather, I did get garden hoses/reels set up in the garage, and on the back of the house, to be used once the temps rise enough that they won’t freeze.

You might have noticed the dishwasher was finally installed, and the Water Heater replaced too. I even have electricity in the garage (the electricians were able to work in there). Two circuits, each with two outlets on the side walls. Now I can have multiple things plugged in at one time, and not trip a circuit.

Also, iRobot Roombas (I7 models) are cleaning the carpets upstairs and floors downstairs, as I type this. If you are looking for a good version of the Roomba, the I7 is it. https://amzn.to/3cf7dWt With the dust collection base, you just schedule them through your phone app, and forget about ‘em. The new “smart mapping” feature is cool. After a few runs, it has created a map of the area, and you can go in and name various rooms. Then, using Alexa, you can ask for Roomba to go vacuum a specific room — good for those times when you spill the cereal box in the kitchen.

And, I am slowly updating mailing addresses online, as forwarded USPS mail arrives here. Really need to get the major things done though (Driver’s License, Truck Title/Registration, Credit Card billing address). That is all being stopped by the COVID-19 lock-downs. == Someday I’ll write about my adventures with Florida vs Ohio Motor Vehicle Bureaus. They both suck rattlesnake eggs. == But this will wait until the adventures have been completed.

Still much to do here, but until I get some sunshine (both outside, and inside me!!!), I’m pretty much down.

I do hope, that even in this gloomy weather and global lock down, that you find a way to

Enjoy Life
