03-22-2025 -- Can't seem to get motivated
Howdy all. Winter is back. Lots of temperatures in the 20s and 30s again, and winds from 35-40 mph, and rain and snow flakes. Ick. Makes it very difficult for me to get out of bed each morning. Well that, and my seemingly inability to fall asleep the last week. The 2 hour sleep nights are the good ones!
Anyway, I hate winter. I hate snow. I hate winds that make the electricity flicker off resetting many of my toys.
I received another box of seed potatoes yesterday, and went outside in the cold and planted the 10 of them. Filling up those raised beds a little more densely.
My brother, Bill, stopped by today for a visit. Good to see him and catch up. He brought a half dozen quart cartons of liquid egg whites he purchased at one of the many grocery stops he makes each Saturday. He is the kind of grocery shopper we all should be. Buying the best products from each store. I am the worst shopper. If the store doesn’t have what I want, I’ll do without, or get whatever they do have, no matter how inferior it may be.
He left with the 2 older folding tables I replaced upstairs. One he may keep for himself, the other he’ll drop off at the dump, at his next trip. I also gave him some of my 3D prints I thought he, or his wife, might like. And, about a half pound of dried Shiitake mushrooms from a 1 pound bag I shouldn’t have purchased. 16 ounces of mushrooms didn’t sound like much, until it arrived. I also gave him a bag of dehydrated cucumber chips from my drying process last fall. I found them to be to hard and chewy. He liked them. Great.
I had already tossed about 4 times as many of the cucumbers. I even tried re-hydrating them, but that just made a soggy disgusting mess. I do like the dehydrated tomatoes that were done at the same time. I plan on trying to use some in a pasta sauce soon.
Yesterday I harvested some more mushrooms.
Some tasty gray oyster mushrooms. And a few Crimini and white buttons too. Good omelettes coming this week.
Oh, I meant to show a picture of another birthday gift. So here are two pics of it.
It is a heat activated color changing coffee cup.. Goes from solid black when cool to this design when warm. The handle was changing back because I removed the warm liquid to dry the cup for the photography.
Thank you Katie And I miss being near you and your family too.
Be sure to continue to Enjoy Life.
