Ending 2019 today
Happy New Year’s Eve to all,
It has been a busy week, in only a few days. I have cleared out all I will clear from the house, prior to the real estate broker’s visit on the 8th. If he wants more removed, I’ll do it then.
Working on cleaning and tossing the last couple of days. I’ve removed black-out curtains, except one for patio door in bedroom (waiting for new, inexpensive, drapes coming Friday), and replaced worn tablecloths with new, more colorful, ones.
Fixed all kinds of little things that have been bad for ages. Like the bi-fold door in the 2nd bedroom closet (replaced a couple of parts). Or the drawer handles that were loose in the bumaster bathroom. And the shelf in the safe. And the front screen door hinge. And other things, I’m forgetting at the moment.
Moved my bigger computer to the 3rd bedroom (computer room( and am working off my laptop now. This means less clutter in the family room. But, this thing is much harder to see and for blogging…
Today I took advantage of the year-end grace period from our waste management company. Normally we are limited to a single 96 gallon trash can each pickup. But through 1/1/20 (tomorrow) they’ll supposedly pick up as much as we put out to the curb. So I tossed out everything that was in the deck boxes around the pool (pool stuff, tree stuff, yard stuff) that I won’t be using up north, and that I didn’t think potential new owners might use. Then I cleaned up the banana plants, removing the one stalk of ripening fruit, and that big plant, and several others. (I kept a handful of bananas for me). I want the area to look clean for viewing. Banana plants can look messy when they are bigger, and leaves are drooping and critters are snacking on, and dropping to the ground, semi-ripe fruit.
In total, I have three fairly full 96 gallon trash bags, the 96 gallon can, and two 60+ gallon cans sitting at the curb, waiting for pickup tomorrow.
Either I, or the lawn/painting guys, will replace a couple of the, not surviving well, citrus fruit trees, on the fence line, with the ones in the patio enclosure, later this week. I want them out of the enclosure, so the falling leaves and blossoms are not making a messy look, and I want the fence line to have thriving plants, for viewing. Hey, if the new owners neglect them, they’ll die too. Oh, yeah, another thing I did today was use up all of the lawn bug killer, and “natural” bug spray I had outside. Even some grass seed. Way too much was used, and most was “wasted”, but once again, I want the best viewing for prospective customers, and they certainly don’t want to see that there are bugs in Florida (there really are!!), nor do they want to know that to have a good looking lawn, you have to work at it…
This whole selling process is just creating illusions. Make the good look better, and while not hiding the bad, make it easier to overlook. Ignore the wires holding the floating woman at the magic show, type stuff. Make sure she has an outfit on (barely) that will redirect most attention.
On the financial front, today I got notified my Medicare Plan G application was approved, Once again, In case someone is looking for a responsible sales rep, Steven B. Hulnick, MBA 561-676-4629 (email is Steven@FloridaMedicareinfo.com ) is the person you want. He got it set up quickly yesterday, along with the Part D. All done over the phone, and with email Electronic Signature processing. Very happy with that procedure.
Also, my 401K rollover to the IRA was completed. Of course I now need to re-balance the IRA to be more fitting of an old-fart retiree. Still waiting for the Office to notify the brokerage that my DCP was also part of the “separation”. They notified them about the 401K, but not the DCP. I guess that is sort of good news, since it means any forced distribution will be taxed in 2020, at a lower rate.
Tired of typing on this laptop for now.
In case I don’t post tomorrow, Happy New Year, and may it be the most able successful year yet.
Enjoy Life
