Day -77 -- Just another Saturday

Just a quick update on life.

But first work — Our second Pune FTE started on Wednesday. It will take a week for him to get set up through the various company onboarding stuff. And, to do all the required corporate training, another couple of days. Then, it gets interesting. If I understand the process correctly, the first fellow will do the training of the 2nd. And if there are questions that he can’t answer, they come to me for clarification and I help them both to understand.

The first FTE is asking for more to do, but there really isn’t much he is allowed to do within the existing job definition. So, we are trying to expand his accesses and permissions. He is capable of doing a lot more than the position requires.

As for me, I’m not sure what I am supposed to do all day, if I’m not “training” someone. I’ll do my best to help out the coworker that gets stuck with it all come 12/20.

This week I did start the process to set up a HELOC (Home Equity Line Of Credit) with the bank holding my existing mortgage. Lots of silly paperwork, and I don’t really grasp from where they pull the various percents and dollar amounts they picked. Doesn’t match valuations of my existing home from any site I know, and they state the percent they will allow (80%) doesn’t seem to match the calculations I make with the amounts they say they are using. It doesn’t really matter, I plan on using this just as a “bridge-like” big down-payment loan to allow me to purchase a new place, and then sell the existing, and clear up all mortgages.

I find I am leaning more to the Condo or “Cluster Home” housing now. I’ve been doing outside house stuff the last couple of weeks, and finding I really don’t want to do it anymore. That will likely mean a new neighborhood that has that type of housing available.

Someone suggested Orlando, as a way to stay in Florida — in a Condo. Interesting thought. Usually the hurricanes have let up some by the time they get there. I could always escape early to miss any majors coming in. And, it would allow me to explore this state for a bit. I’ve managed to live here 25 years and yet haven’t visited many of the cities and attractions. And those I visited long ago, well let’s just say I didn’t recall much of it, the day after being there. This time I could go/visit at my own speed, and without “supplements”! I could even see the Harry Potter and Star Wars attractions..

Supposedly Orlando is an inexpensive Florida city for retirement. — Actual suggestion was renting/leasing a Condo there for a couple of years, and then moving, if I decided it didn’t work for me. — I’ll give it some consideration, but I really don’t want to move twice. One last time is about all I have in me…

I picked the last of the Avocados this morning, prior to the rains. About a dozen of them. Most will go to work for a friend and her family. I’ll keep 4. One a day for most of a work week.

Not much else happening at the moment. Later this month I will be contacting a realtor to determine the minimum I need to do to make this place sell easily.
