Day -42 -- Six weeks and still counting

Yep, just 6 calendar weeks left. That turns out to be only 28 working days (2 off for TurkeyDay).. Amazing.

We are up to the full complement of 3 Pune FTEs now. The last one is watching my KT (Knowledge Transfer) videos and coming up to speed. My coworker has almost completely taking over the reins for the applications and the Pune teammates. He is doing great. I am just there to answer questions and occasionally supply a hint or two.

I feel like that is what I should be doing at this point. Getting the team ready to move on without me. Oh, and he/I are slowly adding to the workload/responsibilities of the Pune guys. They want more to do, and are proving to be capable. This will become very important as my coworker’s project load increases the coming year.

Today the Office had the yearly Wellness Fair down in the auditorium. To keep up with the “ADDing to Living” portion of this blog, I did go down to see it for the first time. I figured I might get some Medicare/Medigap advice and some “medical” freebies. (Nobody there to advise on MediCare/Medigap).

Mostly it seemed there were groups trying to push products and get you to sign up for appointments to their clinics. Um, I don’t want to go see no “practicing” physician.

I did allow the Dermatologist to do a free cancer/skin screening. I am fine, other than having old-fart’s “fragile” skin — plenty of cuts and bruises on my arms from working in the yard, or in the garage, at home. She offered a specific brand of “Mature Skin Solutions” to help. https://amzn.to/36I0BOl

I’ll give it a try and see if some of the bruises heal quicker. But with this klutz, there are always new ones being created.. And, of course, she suggested I go in for a full, much more thorough appointment. Nah.

Also had the Lung Functionality testing. the final numbers suggested mine were in above average shape (108%) for an old man of my height. So, it looks like the 30 years or so of smoking, and the T.B., didn’t totally destroy them — yet!!!.

I was hoping for a Hearing test to be available — none there. So I did a couple of the online tests, and they suggest I still hear quite well — At least I think that’s what I heard…

Next Wednesday I get an AngioScreen Vascular Screening. “Angioscreen® is a simple, non-invasive vascular screening designed to provide you with information about your circulation and your risk of heart disease and stroke. An Angioscreen® will provide you with information about your heart rhythm, neck and leg arteries and fitness.“

This is also part of the Wellness fair. Supposed to determine just how blocked up my arteries are. Yeah, sure.

They were doing Flu-shots, but I’ve gotten that already for the year. I wanted to get the “bone-density” testing, but they were only doing that as part of a women-only mini-physical. I told the lady, hey, I got big boobs, doesn’t that qualify me? Apparently not.

Not quite sure how good the test really was anyhow. Someday I really ought to have an A.L.P. blood test done, just to confirm it hasn’t gotten any better in the 20 years since I told the doctor no I am not letting you jam the big straw into my thigh for bone-marrow. Hey, if he had been correct, and it was truly needed, I would have been dead within 3 - 6 months anyway. By not seeing a doctor for the last 20 years, I’ve managed to not get the terminal diagnosis….

But I am doing all of these silly tests just to ensure I am “retiring” semi-healthy. My blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol (good/bad/otherwise), blood sugar, prostate, have all tested fine in the last 6 months. I’m still slowly, albeit VERY slowly, losing weight, and getting in better physical and mental condition. I have a couple more blood testings to get done (just waiting for me to cut my finger and bleed in the tube), which I hope to do in the next couple of weeks. And the pneumonia vaccine is coming up in a month.

In all, I'm doing well, and making sure all is well so I can

Enjoy Life
