Day -30 -- MediToday -- PrePlanning -- and more!
Howdy all,
I had a discussion with a MediCare Sales Person today. Hey, I don’t mind somebody making a buck off of me getting good information, as long as I don’t have to pay for it. He’ll be paid by the insurance companies. I checked the prices against me doing it online, and they don’t change. And, even better, I don’t have to do the typing!!!.
In case someone is looking for a responsible sales rep, Steven B. Hulnick, MBA 561-676-4629 ( email is Steven@FloridaMedicareinfo.com ) is the person you want. —- He gave permission for me to post this ——
So, now I have a plan, more or less, for Social Security / Medical into the future. Since I have to wait to be within 3 months of my Birth Month to apply for the Medicare stuff, I will be starting on December 2nd (the Monday). On that day I’ll put in for Social Security to start on 1/1/2020. Yes, I know that I should really wait until FRA (Full Retirement Age) at the minimum to get the most benefits, if I live to be over 80ish. But, first, I do believe I can beat the expected yearly returns by investing — I’ve done that for years. And second, um, will I really make it that long? Not given my disdain for the medical community…
Also on December 2nd, I can set up for Medicare A/B to begin on 3/1/2020. It is the earliest I can define for the start of coverage. Since the Office is dumping me on 12/20/2019, and they will pay the first 2 months of COBRA, that gets me to 2/20/2020ish (what constitutes a month, is yet to be determined), and then I will pay for a prorated 10-12 days of COBRA Medical coverage. I will continue the Dental/Vision plans through COBRA, until at least the end of 2020.
Once the feds send me my Medicare card, I will get back in touch with Steven to have him start the rest. He suggests that may be 2 weeks or so. Thus, around December 16th, I should be able to have him set up the AARP United HealthCare (UHC) Plan G, and a Plan D (Drugs) for me. The “D” will likely be about $34 a month. He mentioned, since I have no prescriptions, and am likely to continue to not have any, I could get a cheaper plan outside of his area for half that amount. (See, I said he was a responsible dude!). But, quite frankly, the 10 months of $17 extra, really isn’t that meaningful in the total scope of things.
Now, once I move — and I am now officially saying that it is, more likely than not, going to be Ohio (Madison or Painesville Township) — I will be able to transfer the UHC plan to there. Steven tells me that moving qualifies as a life changing “Qualified Event” and I can alter things outside of the yearly period.
Since SouthEast Florida has some of the highest Medicare Supplement rates, by transferring to Ohio, I will likely see a 60% drop in monthly costs!!!! Yep, that much…
I will have the payments for this stuff done as EFT from my checking account, so I don’t need to worry about them in the future. Oh, my bank of choice is also all over the country, so while I’ll need to do change of address eventually (with them and a million other companies!!!), I won’t need to change the EFT information.
So, my Medicare setup should all be done before I am out the door of the Office on 12/20/2019. —- OMG, that is exactly one month from now. (30 calendar days, only 20 working days!!!!).. Of course they still have not put it in WRITING. I’ll be asking for that again today.
So, there’s my update. I hope everybody is having a fantastic day, and . . .
Enjoy Life,
