03-15-2025 -- Everyone knows it's windy

Howdy all. Ugh. Weather was almost nice for a couple days. Even broke 70 for the high. A little windy at times, but sunshine. I was outside long enough to do a few very minor things. Like fix the birdbath solar water fountain, and add water to the bath. Also filled the 3 bird feeders out front. One flock of little black birds found one of them and it is now 1/2 empty. (Mostly on the ground!!).

Also put down bone-meal in a few of the raised garden beds. Just on top, knowing it was to rain today. The soil was pretty much frozen solid at the time. Will be able to till them up soon, I hope. I have all of my seed potatoes and onions at this point. And may start some seeds indoors this coming week (cucumbers and such).

Also put bone-meal around the rose bushes and places where flowers should pop out soon. When that waters in, it will give them a boost.

This last week we had the “big” lunar eclipse. I did not see it. Fell asleep around 2 am and woke up about 4:30, right after it was done. But I did get a picture of the full moon earlier that evening.

Just the slightest bit hazy. But nice colors.

Today (Saturday) the storms hit this morning as I was getting out of bed. Lots of winds and thunder. We are in a break, at the moment (1:30), but more will be here around 6 pm, and then nastiness overnight into tomorrow morning. Up to 40mph gusts now, and closer to 50mph gusts around sunrise tomorrow. The temperatures will drop like 30 degrees during the day tomorrow to get below freezing again for Monday. Can’t till gardens in that!!

I am, still, playing with my 3D printers and getting a few things done. I printed off this blue cat planter, and a few grasshoppers.

Anyway, my housekeeper saw the blue cat being printed and would like a lime green version of it. The grasshopper is apparently lime green. Yeah, sure. I’m a guy. It is green green.

I got my tax refunds deposited in my checking account. I was hoping to waste some of it on the latest Bambu Lab 3D printer that is predicted to be released this month. But, the glimpses that people are getting make it seem it is not what I was wanting. They may be producing some overpriced “combo” 3D printer and cheapo laser engraver. From the leaked images, I’m guessing a 10 watt diode laser jammed in same box with what I was almost wanting. The bed size is likely to be a little smaller than I hoped, and, while it has dual extrusion heads, they may not save as much time and filament as I wished.

And they may be pushing over $3000 for this combined unit. No, not for me. Dump the crappy laser module, and all of the overhead it creates, and just add better air flow, dual heads, and create less “poop”. And be a little faster too. All of those are possible, just not in a single machine right now. And make that price under $2000. Their very good Carbon X1 is at $1499 right now. This should be possible.
