03-04-2025 -- A Weaver's print - started

Howdy all, a lovely day outside. Almost. As in almost 50 degrees right now, and almost no rain, and almost decently low winds. Maybe as good as it gets for awhile. I’ll stay inside. Almost. Do need to go pick up all the trash USPS mail from last few days.

I started up a couple of real prints on the 3D printers later yesterday. Both halted in the night. The one that hasn’t been moved, thought it saw a pile of filament spaghetti, and paused for a cleanup. There was one tiny blob of white filament on the bed. The print being done, is all red. Just using up a roll making a couple desiccant holders for the AMS units. Don’t really care what color, since they will go in the bottom of the units and can’t be seen. The blob must have been from a previous print. The print resumed without issues. May be done now.

The printer that I moved and re setup, hard stopped because of filament movement issues. Not only couldn’t it get one of the green filaments from an AMS unit, the prior green had clogged the nozzle.

This morning I spent over an hour clearing the path from that AMS to the printer, but heating the nozzle and trying to clear the clog. It appears to have worked. I restarted the print from the beginning, and it seems to be farther along now than when it failed.

The greens are being used for grass.

You can see a pile of various greens in the middle.

This print should be a prototype of a sign for Weaver’s Lawn Service. I think I made the words stick out too much.. Should stop at this point. But I’ll let this print finish to get a better idea of just how many layers I need to remove from the file.

The print finished. I like the depth. Will make bigger version now.

At first, I looked at a photo and thought it looked like a very big sign. So I added a pen for scale. Find your own banana.

The grass especially looks good with depth. Wish I had 250 more levels of green to use. But this looks nice.

Oh, I have to add to this blog that I just went out for the mail. Weather slightly different than expected. Sunny at the moment. Winds maybe less than 15 mph, and the temperature exceeded forecast and is around 55. I didn’t freeze for a change. There is still a small pile of snow across the street from the driveway, and some in the ditches, but mostly gone and waiting for Thursday’s snowfall. Tomorrow is a wind advisory for the morning. Usually means 40 mph or so. UGH But for the moment, I love sunshine and can….

Enjoy life.
