New Edition

Howdy,

Time to get caught up on what I’ve been doing. Really, nothing very exciting. I’m just getting the house/yard in as comfortable condition as I can.

A lot of that is on the deck, around the deck, through the deck.

Here are a few pictures and words on where I’m at.

I’ve mentioned I like color and moving things in the past - -part of the chasing butterflies with ADD. Here is a picture out the patio doors to the deck as of today.

Notice I did get a plant stand for inside, and another for outside. Orchids, and herbs in, mostly herbs outside.

You can see some little whirlygigs and a flag on the railing, and lots of greenery. Those bigger planters are raspberries, an the ones outside of those are blueberries.

My largest harvest… One handful, gone in a bite.. But yummy.

I also have flowers around the deck to add color and appeal.

BTW,. the blueberries are in the blue planter…

On this side, I added edging bricks to make it easier to mow/edge, and to keep weeds out. Looks nice.

Oh, forgot to mention the bucket of wild flowers on the deck.. Just some extra color.

The bucket is a self-watering planter with about 2 gallons of water at the bottom.

I also raised the fire pit a level to make it easier to contain fires. And it looks nicer.

Need to do some burning.

And lastly, I put down some stones at the drip edge of the out building, and around the downspout of the gutter at the corner of the house. Helps keep critters from digging in also.

Other minor things also happened. And I’ve been seeding/feeding/critter killing the lawn, and it is looking much better.

Lots of green grass, and not a mole trail, or chippy hole to be seen. Ants are under control. Trees trimmed up. Deck bright and clean, Almost livable...

Oh, yeah. Today I went out and replaced the rotting “wood?” expansion joints the prior owner had in the driveway and in the threshold of the garage. I used a silicone rubber pound-in product that levels the joint, leaves no room for insects or weeds, and just plain looks better.

The old stuff — plywood? ply cardboard? fiberboard? Whatever it was, the ants built nests in it..

Okay, maybe I should have swept up before the picture. But, that isn’t going anywhere — no more ant homes..

I should mention that I am still waiting for Snapper/Briggs and Stratton to send out my replacement mower. I did buy their lower end model (1/2 the price) so I can mow. It is not so easy pushing that thing up and down the drainage ditch out front. Here is a picture of the ditch, showing the new stones I added to the driveway berm over it.

On this side of the driveway, the ditch is 5 rows of bricks deep. The other side is steeper. The ditch runs the length of the property.

That’s about it for today. Tomorrow or Friday I’ll hopefully be making another posting. This one will be about the New Addition. There’s a teaser for you to

Enjoy Life.
