Harvest - Update

Howdy all,

The gardening experiment is continuing. Even though we’ve had temperatures that have varied from 40 to 80. The cucumbers are still vining over the trellis like structures, and the spinach is getting close to being usable. I did yank a bunch of the various lettuce plants. They really aren’t so much growing as just sitting there. But I did get enough for a salad.

The bean plants are starting to blossom — well some of them. So there may be a plate of beans in my future.

Purple beans?

Purple beans?

Various colored buds.

I am guessing this is a normal green bean.

I also am trying to grow indoors. I bought this at the beginning of September, and in just 3 weeks, I already had to thin away extra plants, and the basil in the middle (red-orange mini tomatoes on each end) is getting close to where I can start nibbling on it.

in the background you can see I’m also getting ready for spring seed starting.

I have been doing other things outside — like picking up leaves / twigs / branches and burning them a couple times each week. OMG, those trees are just dropping tons, and they are really just starting.

And I did a bunch of more retaining wall edgers around the various growing areas up near the house. Home Depot delivered around 5000 pounds of various bricks and blocks last week. All now have a spot of their own. If you zoom in with this picture, you can see the edging added in front of the house. It will make it much easier during mowing, and will stop the mulch from blowing/flowing into the grass during wind/rain. And just looks more finished than a messy edge.

All of the carrying and positioning of those retaining wall edgers wore me out. Well that plus the dentist visits and getting the old-fart flu shot — Every time I get one of those vaccines, the shoulder that got the injection, feels like somebody hit it with a pick-axe. And it lasts for days. I also feel pretty much icky for a day or two.

But I have proof that the work “wore” me out.

Anyway, not much happening otherwise. Kitty and I are both doing fairly well. She is still exploring the house and finding new places to sleep.

Me, I wish I could sleep most nights. But, I see to survive on the 3 - 4 hours I may get. I’ve been watching a lot of the “Star Trek” series on the streaming channels, and some other shows. Some work out, like “Scorpion”, others like “The Tick” really don’t do it for me, and I give up after a few episodes.

Started “The Umbrella Academy” last night, after watch the first “Enola Holmes” movies. Both are interesting.

So, there’s the update. I hope you all are doing well.

Enjoy Life.
