Echos in my mind.
Howdy all.
Another interesting few days. After the Office tried to tell me they wouldn’t let me take just Dental / Vision COBRA insurance, now that I am eligible for Medicare (well, on 3/1), I forwarded them the requirements from the U.S. Department of Labor. Looks like that helped them to what they needed to legally do. So, I will have Dental / Vision insurance for 2020. Yippee. Towards the end of the year I’ll switch to non-COBRA plans to save money. But for now, I just wanted continuing coverage. Especially since I was at the Dentist on 2/26, and once again, they needed to fix up some 40 year-old fillings.
Moving forward — Yesterday, the moving company sent a crew of three to pack up as much as possible, for the loaders today. They did a fantastic job, in around 4-5 hours. 62 separate cartons, and bunches of individually wrapped things.
Today the loaders came, and cleared this place out in about 3 1/2 hours. Then we drove over to the storage unit building, and they emptied that in about 15 minutes or so.
www.A1AAtlantic.com working for www.Mayflower.com , did a fantastic job getting things prepped and loaded. My Trike was bubble-wrapped to the point they had to lift it onto the truck since it couldn’t roll.
Only issues were mine. I wasn’t that good at realizing what was an aerosol or liquid or hazardous material.. They can’t haul those things. For some reason my brain took that as paints/gasoline and things of that nature. Um no. Bleach is hazardous and liquid. Shoot, hairsprays and spray deodorant are aerosol, you big dummy… They were patient with me as they found these things and said, nope!!!
Anyhow, I am now sitting in an uncomfortable “camping” chair, typing on my laptop, which is on a “table” made of boxes full of leftover bubble wrap pouches. I also have an inflatable mattress in the bedroom. And a horrid inflatable “couch” that is all of 8 inches off the floor, and impossible to use — even if it would hold air (but doesn’t very well). Otherwise, the place is empty with the exception of some food items and cleaning supplies. I’ve already vacuumed the entire place Good grief there was a lot of dust in places that haven’t been touched in years — and the carpet gave up a lot of fiber (it is old) — I had to empty the vacuum 3 times before I was done with every room.
The biggest empty space is the garage. Hardly a thing left other than the shelves on the walls. I did leave a few things on the top shelf for the new owners. Irrigation stuff, a couple of unused blue roof tarps (for post-hurricane if needed), pool filter, etc. And I remember to hold onto one of my battery leaf blowers and and really blew out all the dust and dead critters and such. It didn’t look that clear when I moved in.
The deck around the pool also looks quite empty without the pool chairs and most of the deck boxes. Left one deck box, with pool stuff and citrus tree things, and the pool net/pole and things of that nature. No pool in my Ohio back yard. .
Next step is to finish cleaning around here (a little) and then pack up my truck with all of those items I need for my next 2 weeks, or the movers aren’t permitted to take.
Tuesday morning is closing, and after that (10:00 am or so) I start driving north for a couple / three days.
