Day -194 -- Can I get a youtube channel up?

Howdy,

When I started thinking about doing this blog, a few years ago — yeah, I knew I’d retire around 2020 — I also wanted to create a Youtube channel to go with it. So, even though I got rid of most of my photography and video equipment (TOYS!!), I kept certain pieces with that in mind. Of course, it won’t do 4K videos, but then, I can’t watch them either.

Thus, this last week I have been trying to put the pieces together and try and video a quick intro clip. Um, I, um, well, um, I, uh, seem, uh, to, um, ah, well, you know, sometimes, well, uh, ah, — yeah, that’s about what I am hearing when I play anything back.

I’ll continue to work on it. Maybe write a script on a large piece of paper, taped to the wall, and try to pretend I’m not reading!!! Someday soon there will be a video on www.Youtube.com/ret-add , but it won’t be this week.

If I can get at least a little comfortable talking to the viewfinder, I may even do the walk and talk types of videos.

I have my Canon M50 and the kit lens, and also have the Canon EF-M 22mm f2 STM for it. And the adapter so I can use my L lenses from my 5D mark II. Plus all kinds of smaller video LED hot-lights and such. Also a Rode VideoMic microphone. I believe I even have a lav mic / receiver left somewhere.

All of this does a fine job of creating a video at 1080P, but it doesn’t increase the talent of the “talent” in front of the lens.

Not much else going on. Still trying to totally recover from whatever bug bit me a couple weeks ago. I am still “pimping” the truck. Added a Garmin GPS and a tailgate assist shock (stops the tailgate from dropping open with a clunk). And ordered some WeatherTech mudflaps to stop the muck from being tossed against the fenders. These are just functional things that should be on any vehicle, don’t know why they aren’t standard equipment.

At the office, they finally held a “team” meeting for all of the application people on the Transition team. Kind of ridiculous, that one of the first things said was that we should be, and have been, working together on things. But, management wouldn’t tell us who was on the team, because they wanted to keep it “confidential” so as to not upset individual members that didn’t want it known. Huh?

Oh, well. At least we now know who may have a clue on how to do things properly. Personally, I just want to do what I am being paid to do. As long as the company is paying me, I want to give them more in value than I receive. And when the day comes that they are not paying me, they get nothing in return. My “loyalty” shifts immediately. That is the way it should be.

Still looking at houses/condos in Ohio and Georgia (via online, of course). Amazed at the much lower living expenses, than southeast Florida. No decisions, other than to visit the 2 states around the beginning of August? maybe September? No later than that though.

Hey, did want to mention, when I put links to Amazon in these blogs, they are referral links. Look at the URL when you are at Amazon, you will see tag=retadd-20 or something like that, in them. If you end up purchasing the item, or any item, while my ref is in the URL, I get a little kickback (not much). It doesn’t add a penny to your cost — it is an associate referral fee type of thing. I thought everybody knew of these, but learned that wasn’t true this last week. I am still waiting for my first real earnings from it…

That’s about it for the day.
