Clean Up on Aisle 1854

Howdy all,

Well after the rainy day earlier in the week, we had a RAINY day on Friday. Rainy and Windy and disgusting. Forecast was for rain. They neglected to mention that winds would be in the 30 mph range with gusts to 60+.

A large mess outside. Twigs and branches from the neighbors’ trees, and all kinds of other debris all over the yard. Oh, did I mention yet that the electricity went out for 8 hours? Along with the TV, phone, and internet (Spectrum Cable suckz). At times, even my wireless Verizon MiFi and AT&T iPhone also cut connectivity.

My generator worked fairly good. Except it had very little gas and died after a few minutes. I was able to switch it to Propane, and it kept the lights on and furnace going for the 8 hours. One 20 pound tank for that period. I just switched to another tank when the lights came back.

So, I need to get a couple replacement Propane tanks, and a couple 5 gallon cans of gasoline filled Monday morning. I’ll put one of those 5 gallon’s worth in the generator tank (and stabilizer too). The specs say it will last around 12 hours.

Anyway, the winds just won’t stop. And the rain keeps coming back too. Not a nice combination when the temperatures were in the mid40s to 50 most of the time. Felt quite chilly out there.

I can’t even get this staging tent re-tied down. The winds pull it away from me every time I try.. Oh, I did pick up a little in yard. Those bricks were on the fabric, but keep getting tossed out of the way by the billowing tent.

The staging tent is to be ripped down anyway, and more berry beds added there. So, I didn’t re-attach the ropes holding it down well enough before the winds. It keeps unzipping itself which just makes itself a bigger sail in the wind.

The bigger greenhouse held steady, even though wind got in it and messed up some of the tomato plants. That screened cage beside it bounced around a lot and some of the pipes came loose, but it is all fixable (so far!!!).

Front yard has lots of debris in it. But no reason to attempt to clean it up until the winds stop. More would just come from the neighbors..

Same with the deck area.

Neighbor towards the lake has a little more clean-up to do. A couple trees from the empty lot beside him, split and fell onto his front yard.

So, I have some work to do again, before I get to
