12-19-2024 -- Happy 5 year Retireversary

I can barely believe I’ve been retired for 5 years now. Oriface Despot Corporation tossed my old arse out the door on 12-19-2019. What a blessing! While it would have been nice to accumulated a few more paychecks, not working is great.

I never thought I’d live to be 20, or then 30, and then didn’t really care much if I lived or died through my 30s and into my 40s. I didn’t start considering I might live long enough to retire until I reached into my 50s. That’s when I began to try and accumulate a meaningful retirement fund.

If you are reading this, and much younger than that, start accumulating retirement assets! You may just find yourself two months short of 70 wishing you had.

I’m not bad off, but it would be nice to get all the toys I want to try. Maybe a big CO2 laser machine, a full sized CNC, a snow PLOW, full-house Battery generator that lasts for a week. Just a few little things?!?

My indoor garden (Click and Grow) is coming along. The tomato plants and basil and parsley are all about 3-4 inches tall. The pepper plants just a little behind that.

I just ordered a few mushroom kits to get going for the year. I usually have white buttons, Crimini mushrooms and oyster mushrooms ready for harvest by this time of year. They like a nice humid environment. Unfortunately, that is the opposite of what 3D printing machines like. So I’ll have humidifiers running in most of the house, and dehumidifiers running in the print room.
