Day -183 -- Six months and counting.
Today is June 20th, the day before the Summer Solstice. And what is meaningful about that, you ask? Well, it means it is exactly 6 months until my last workday. And the Winter Solstice is day 1 of retirement. That seems like a very apropos day to start a new segment of life. Every day after that gets a bit longer, and the darkness shorter. Looking forward to that.
At the office, today I finished off getting the last of the data processed from that big issue that darkened my last two weeks. Now I should be slowing down until my last day. Seeking to see where the sun will lead me.
I am still looking at housing in the two selected destinations. Ohio is a tad less expensive, and thus I would have more freedom to do as I want, but Georgia seems to have more beautiful scenery.
Shoot, I still can’t make up my mind on whether I want the Single Family House, or a Condo. The Condo offers more flexibility in traveling, and none of the worries of keeping up yards and basic utilities. But the Single Family Home offers the workshop I would like (perhaps as an outbuilding) and the privacy to make noise and plant a garden if I want.
Thus, I continue to look at both. The “workshop” could be in the basement, of either Condo or Single home. But the HOA might complain about noise. Ugh. Decisions, decisions.
But this is why I am looking at both. Plenty of time to work it out. Hey, in the last couple of years I’ve narrowed it down to just 2 locations. And, I know I don’t want to do apartment living. Nor would I consider “modular” housing ever again. I know I won’t do Condos with common walls, other than garages. A lot of things have been eliminated. And it could just end up which I find to be be more “me” when the time comes.
Until then, I will continue to look and let this process as a background task in my gray matter computer. Sooner or later, the answer will become obvious. They always do.
As for today, it is time to celebrate the coming darkness, for I know when it ends, there will be plenty of sunshine for me.
Enjoy Life,
