GreenHouse Update

Howdy all,

Just a quick set of pictures showing the growth in the greenhouse.

Lots of tomato plants — I thinned out the suckers and lower branches after the picture. And ran string to the top frame of the greenhouse to allow them more growth room. I, sadly, am growing tomato plants, and not so many tomatoes. Next time I’ll know better.

That’s not to say there aren’t some fruit.

Just not many yet!!!

The cucumber plants are also growing, and blossoming.

There are fruit on the cucumber plants, just hard to get pictures since they are deep under the quickly growing vines and leaves.

Easier to get photos of the peppers. Yes, I do have some leaf chewers. I think I finally have them under control.

The basil and spinach on the right continuing to produce. I have been chopping off leaves and not keeping up with the growth. On the left you can see huge radish plants and maybe a pea plant or two. The peas and beans are trying to find room around the radish plants (another lesson learned!!!).

And finally, some squash and zucchini plants finally taking off — obviously they are outside of the greenhouse tent. I don’t expect them to stay confined between the fences, but figure the vines should crawl up and over them to give some vertical space to the growing area.

First of 2 indoor “garden” pictures. I got this on Tuesday this week. After putting in bowl of water overnight, it has set on the towel for the last 5 days (Today is Sunday). I hadn’t noticed anything on Friday when my housekeeping team was here, and I mentioned what the box was. So this growth is really just a couple of quick days. Wow. Those are oyster mushrooms.

Second indoor “garden” picture. Now, this is not a stale chocolate cake. It is also a mushroom kit. Also started late on Tuesday. Those are Shitaki mushrooms. One is close to pick-able. Coming along quickly.

The berry bed is doing well too. There are a lot of blossoms from the strawberry plants. Not sure if they will make fruit or not. They weren’t supposed to fruit the first year. And the tomato and pepper plants, I had tossed into the one 4x4 foot bed, are now growing fast. I tied lines to the frame I built last week, so they can grow vertically too. No blossoms yet.

Berry Beds, with tomatoes and peppers in the middle 4x4 bed this year. Strings lead from plants to frame above. I’ll keep them growing vertically as much as possible.

Will these become really edible strawberries this year?

Of course until I actually get fruit, I can enjoy these.

A little color to brighten the day.

When harvesting begins, I’ll be getting pictures.

Until then,
